The best New Zealand Coffee in the UK

The best New Zealand Coffee in the UK

New Zealand was where the first idea for SunShipped was born and it’s also home to some of the best coffee and cafes in the world (humble opinion). No one does brunch quite like the Kiwi’s and Aussies. Sitting in the sun with the perfect flat white and avocado smash is always our favourite way to start the weekend.

We round up some of the best New Zealand cafes in the UK where you can start your day the Antipodean way.

Ozone

Ozone Coffee Roasters has just been ranked as the fifth most popular cafe in the world and for good reason. Look no further for the ultimate Kiwi coffee - they work with myriad producers, millers and exporters, rotating single-origin filters weekly and you won’t go hungry after ordering from their zero-waste menu of elevated brunch. Their locations across London, including Shoreditch and London Fields, do a great job of transporting you back to their HQ in Auckland.

Allpress

Another Kiwi classic now across different locations in the UK is Allpress. Michael Allpress (yes, there’s a guy) was inspired to establish Allpress Espresso after witnessing the specialty coffee revival in Seattle during the late ‘80s. An early obsession with flavour saw a switch from being New Zealand’s first coffee cart, to roasting coffee in the back of a garage and supplying it to cafés around Auckland City. You can visit Allpress across London as well as the newly opened cafe in Manchester. But best of all, set up a subscription to have NZ coffee beans delivered straight to your door.

Caravan

Caravan is one of the original New Zealand cafes, started by three Kiwi’s who missed a good cup of coffee and the relaxed culture to enjoy it in. They wanted to create a place where you could come first thing in the morning and stay all day and night. Now with seven restaurants across London, you can get your caffeine fix from many locations, our favourite is the original in Exmouth Market.

Tamper Coffee

Venture out of London and you’ll find Tamper coffee, an independent café founded in 2011 by Kiwi Jon Perry and his partner Natalie, who wanted to bring a little slice of the Kiwi café culture to the heart of Sheffield. Tamper is all about that kiwi experience, set in a rustic and quirky environment, with fresh seasonal food, exceptional service and coffee from fellow Kiwis Ozone. We’re obsessing over their aesthetic and booking a train to Sheffield as we speak.

The Bach

A bach (pronounced 'batch') is a small, often very modest holiday home or beach house. Baches are an iconic part of New Zealand history and culture and are great places to unwind. The Bach in Broadway Market brings Kiwi hospitality great coffee, food and Kiwi wine to East London

Carbon Kopi

Carbon Kopi is speciality coffee shops nestled Hammersmith & Fulham founded by a couple of avid coffee and food aficionados formerly based in New Zealand. Carbon Kopi has a delicious all day menu alongside cakes, coffee and another Kiwi staple, pies...
